Ammon News - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), carried out a campaign to end violations on water sources in southern Amman and remove illegal fixtures.

The ministry, in a statement on Thursday, said 5 violations on main waterlines that siphoned hundreds of cubic meters daily in a "flouting" manner, were ended in Amman's Manga area.

The stolen water went to supply farms, homes, ponds and sale and affected quantities pumped to southern Amman regions, the statement added.

Based on the available information, a security campaign was coordinated this morning in the south Amman region and investigations ongoing to nab and refer culprits to the concerned juridical authorities, the ministry said.

Violations impacting water sources are a crime punishable by imprisonment for long periods and large fines, the ministry noted.
