Jordan hosts 9th Global Land Forum

Ammon News - Jordan is set to host the 2022 9th Global Land Forum (GLF) on May 23, which will discuss key issues and challenges facing the world from climate change and conflicts and their impact on the environment and the earth.

"The forum will be the largest event of its kind in the Middle East," Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat said.

He added that Jordan was chosen to set up the forum as it represents a country of security and safety and enjoys global respect due to the foreign policy led by His Majesty King Abdullah.

Hneifat indicated that the forum will discuss the launch of the land governance and management strategy in Jordan, land governance policies in the world, and major climate and environmental issues and challenges facing the world.

The forum will also discuss ways of dealing with water crises, modern technologies and in various sectors and the exchange of expertise between the participating countries, especially as it includes a number of agriculture ministers, international organizations, experts, academics, opinion leaders and specialists from various sectors related to the land, Hneifat added.

The three-day forum is held in cooperation with the International Earth Alliance, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and SEEDS Jordan, and attracts 800 guests from 150 countries over in the Dead Sea region.

"The forum will include important sessions that will cover multi-level land use planning, decentralization of land management and integration in building a cohesive regional society in the optimal use of land, in addition to supporting youth and women in land investment in rural areas," representative of SEEDS Jordan, the co-organizer of the forum in Jordan.
