The Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC) prosecutor on Monday ordered the imprisonment of six employees of the National Agricultural Research Centre for 15 days on charges of embezzling about 3 million dinars.

Among the defendants are the centre's former director general, a member of the Audit Bureau, the financial manager, an accountant, an internal auditor and the director of the director general's office, according to a press release by the anti-graft commission.

They were accused of embezzlement, misuse of public office, nepotism, waste of public money and forgery, and the prosecutor ordered the seizure of their movable and immovable assets and banned them from travel pending the investigation.

The case is the latest in a series that the commission referred to the Public Prosecution.
