Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Krishan on Thursday has decided to postpone the provincial councils and municipal elections in the Kingdom for six months, based on the provisions of the Local Administration Law No. 22 of 2021 published in the Official Gazette on September, 23, 2021, Jordan News Agency Petra reported.

The move comes to ensure the integrity and legal validity of the elections, because the implementation of the local administration law's provisions requires a set of regulations and decisions that must be issued before the start of the electoral process, according to Petra.

Also today, Krishan decided to assign temporary committees previously formed to manage the municipalities to continue their work until the elections, based on the powers conferred on him by the Local Administration Law.
