Embassy of Ukraine in Jordan: The Last Gasps of Russian Imperialism

Ammon News - The Embassy of Ukraine in Jordan said in an article that as the world prepares to commemorate the Victory in Europe Day on May 8th, marking the end of World War II in Europe, it's imperative to reflect on the present as much as the past. Ukraine stands at the forefront of a struggle against the last vestiges of Russian imperialism, a battle that echoes the sacrifices made during the darkest days of the 20th century.

The embassy stated that the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine is not just about territorial disputes or geopolitical ambitions. It represents a clash between two visions of the future: one rooted in authoritarianism, revisionism, and oppression, and the other in democracy, freedom, and international law.

"The Russian war against Ukrainian people is the last try of the “Moscovite” leadership to reassert itself on the world stage through brutal force and genocide. Through its failed war of conquest and attempts at creating a façade of hollow greatness out of soviet union’s role in the Second World war, putin is trying to bring Europe back into the past. However, there is no going back. Russia’s diminished international influence and downsized role is predicated first and foremost by its own backwardness, corruption and anti-human ideology. Russia’s future is something that Kremlin is not talking about too often because it is an uncomfortable truth," it added.

There is really not much of a future - ruinous aftermath of the imperial hangover, disintegration and post-war resentment, devastating implosion within the borders of a previously vast country, the embassy noted.

The embassy continued by saying: "Vladimir Putin's so called "inauguration", scheduled for May 7th, serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of erosion of democratic norms and the consolidation of power in the hands of a dictator. His grip on Russia has spanned nearly a quarter of a century, characterized by the systematic suppression of dissent, the subversion of institutions, and the manipulation of elections. The farcical nature of the recent elections in Russia only underscores the illegitimacy of Putin's rule and the desperate measures undertaken to maintain his stranglehold on power."

"But beyond the political theatrics lies a deeper, more insidious truth: the ideological underpinnings of the Russian regime. Ukrainian Parliament has recently approved a statement "On defining the current political regime in the Russian Federation as racist and condemning its ideological foundations and social practices as totalitarian and misanthropic," it added.

This statement has unequivocally condemned the racist and totalitarian foundations of the Russian state, drawing parallels to the darkest chapters of history. The echoes of Stalinism and Nazism reverberate through Putin's Russia, manifested in militarism, personality cults, and the violent suppression of ethnic and cultural diversity. It is a regime built on the denial of sovereignty, the violation of human rights, and the glorification of aggression, according to the embassy.

The article also mentioned that the international community has a moral obligation to confront this resurgent authoritarianism, not just through symbolic gestures, but through concrete actions. The recent imposition of additional sanctions against Russian entities involved in military aggression and human rights abuses is a step in the right direction. By targeting key sectors of the Russian economy, including energy and defense, these measures send a clear message: impunity will not be tolerated, and aggressors will be held accountable.

"But sanctions alone are not enough. Ukraine has extended an invitation to the international community to participate in Global Peace Summit, scheduled to take place in in June in Switzerland. This summit represents a unique opportunity to rally support for Ukraine's quest for peace and security. President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula, rooted in the principles of international law and diplomacy, offers a viable path forward for resolving the conflict and restoring stability to the region," it continued.

However, the road to peace will not be easy. The Russian regime has shown a consistent disregard for diplomatic overtures, preferring aggression and coercion over dialogue and compromise. Yet, Ukraine remains steadfast in its commitment to seeking a peaceful resolution, bolstered by the support of its allies and partners.

"As we commemorate the sacrifices of the past, let us also reaffirm our commitment to the principles of freedom, democracy, and human dignity. The struggle for Ukraine's sovereignty is not just a Ukrainian affair, it is a global imperative. By standing in solidarity with Ukraine, we stand on the right side of history, ensuring that the lessons of the past are not forgotten and that the promise of a peaceful and prosperous future is within reach," the embassy said.

The embassy concluded by saying: "Yes, it is not an easy time for Ukraine as well right now when the pseudo-empire is trying to throw everything it has at us in Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Sumy, and the rest of the peaceful cities of Ukraine. But we know that our future is secure, within the family of the European and Euroatlantic community of nations of good will. Ukraine will continue to modernise, rearm and fulfil its role of a guardian protecting Europe from the threat of the northern barbarians coming from Russia. We have not chosen this path, this was written for us by destiny and we will walk all the way with our heads up. Ukraine is there to stay, Ukrainians are here standing proud and firm."
