Higher Education Council announces return of in-class education, examinations

The Higher Education Council confirmed the return of the in-class education and holding all examinations on campus in higher education institutions for various disciplines and university degrees.

According to the decision, made in a council session held on Saturday, the return will be from the beginning of the first semester of the next academic year 2021/2022, taking into account applying the integrating e-learning system in higher education institutions, which was recently approved.

The council also called for adhering to the Defense Order No. 32, in addition to the plan for the safe return of higher education institutions, which includes all health protocols that preserve the health and safety of university workers and students.

In the session, chaired by Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohammad Abu Qdais, the council agreed that the starting date for students in public universities will be on Sunday 10/10/2021, and in private universities, on Sunday 17/10/2021.

The council approved the general framework for graduate studies programs in Jordanian universities, which included main themes related to the admission (in terms of admission requirements and requirements for obtaining the degree), research and supervision (How to select a supervisor for the student’s research, the department's identification of topics from which the student chooses a topic for his thesis, follow-up on the student’s performance periodically), and the focus of discussion (sending the thesis to an external assessor, forming a committee for discussion who meet the supervision conditions, in addition to an external examiner from outside the university, and the procedures for discussing the thesis).
