House committee, Omani envoy talk stronger joint cooperation

Ammon News - A delegation from the Jordanian Parliamentary Fraternity Committee with the Arab Gulf states and Yemen discussed on Sunday, with the Omani Ambassador to Jordan, Hilal bin Marhoon bin Salem Al Maamari, ways to enhance bilateral relations in all fields, especially in the parliamentary domain.

During their visit to the Omani Embassy, the delegation, headed by the Committee's rapporteur, MP Abdullah Awad, stressed the need to focus on increasing economic and trade exchange between the two countries, as well as sharing joint expertise in the educational and cultural fields.

Noting Jordan's economic challenges, Awad said the Kingdom has received the largest numbers of refugees from different countries, the most recent wave was Syrian refugees, as well as spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

The lawmaker lauded Jordanian-Omani relations as "historic and distinguished," which formed a model in pan-Arab ties.

Awad said the difficult conditions sweeping the region require all countries to strengthen and sustain coordination and consultation at all levels.

The envoy, for his part, pointed to the "advanced" level the bilateral relations have reached, stressing the need to strengthen economic, commercial, educational and cultural ties.

During the visit, Awad and Al-Maamari stressed the necessity of opening new horizons to attract tourism, activating the navigation route, and benefiting from the opportunities available in both countries.

The discussions also stressed the importance of marketing Jordanian universities to attract Omani students to study in the Kingdom.
