Ammon News - The Institute of Public Administration (IPA) on Sunday, kicked off activities of the Governance and Leadership Skills Program for the Youth in the Public Sector, in cooperation with the Rasheed for Integrity and Transparency (Transparency International, Jordan) with support from the Rule of Law Project.

Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the program saw the participation of 50 young employees from ministries, institutions and government departments concerned with funding and investment, in response to the royal vision aimed at empowering youth and making room for achievement and bringing about the desired change in the performance of public sector institutions, according to a JPA press statement.

Speaking during the launching ceremony, IPA's Assistant Director-General, Fayez Nahar, said the programs, which target young public sector servants, came with the aim of investing their potential to become drivers of change and development in their institutions, lead work teams and development projects, and compete for supervisory and leadership positions in the future.

The program is aimed to provide the participants with all the know-how and skills necessary for leadership positions, coupled with the principles of governance to be a basic pillar in performance of their job tasks and a management approach in their various job positions, according to Nahar.

The program, he noted, targets public sector employees who do not occupy any supervisory or leadership positions, under 30 years old, and whose public service does not exceed 5 years, indicating that its first beneficiaries were announced on the official pages of the institute during the past months.
