During a meeting at the border crossing, Razzaz ordered the concerned officials to provide him with a weekly report detailing staff and travelers’ commitment to the set protocols aimed at preventing and detecting COVID-19 infections.

The prime minister talked with a number of truck drivers at the border post and listened to their observations, stressing the importance of providing the best possible means to appropriate conditions for quarantine.

He urged them to adhere to public health standards such as the use of face masks and physical distancing to preserve their safety and the health of their families and society.

In turn, Minister of Interior Salameh Hammad said that the procedures followed at the border crossing, including on-site testing and quarantining of drivers, had significantly contributed to reducing the transmission of the disease.

Minister of Public Works and Housing Falah Omoush indicated that a yard, which has been recently set up for back-to-back freight handing, helped minimize foreign drivers’ contact with border officials.
