Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The northern Ramtha district will be placed under an indefinite lockdown as of Monday morning following an uptick in the number of COVID-1 infections in the border town over the past few days.
"The Ramtha district will be isolated from the rest of the Kingdom, starting at 06:00am on Monday, August 17th, until the epidemiological situation in the district allows for the lifting of the isolation", Coronavirus Crisis Cell Operations Director Brig. Gen. Mazin Faraya announced on Saturday.
Faraya explained that the decision to isolate Ramtha was taken in light of the "alarming indicators" of the epidemiological situation and the spike in community spread, voicing the hope that the curfew will be lifted soon.
He added that the curfew will run from 08:00pm to 06:00am, indicating that businesses will be allowed to open outside the curfew hours.
Faraya said that other necessary measures will be taken to ensure the lockdown is implemented in a manner that takes into account the needs of the district's people and preserve the overall epidemiological situation in other parts of the Kingdom.
He called on the people of Ramtha to observe the highest levels of vigilance and adherence to health safety measures to restore the situation to what it was before the recent outbreak.
