During its meeting, attended by a number of ministers, the committee also decided to task Minister of Health, Dr. Sa'ad Jaber, in cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities, to take the necessary health and preventive measures to quarantine workers at the Jaber Border Crossing.

To carry out the health measures, Jaber will make the needed arrangements in this regard, after the border crossing has seen an increase in the number of Covid-19 infections among its working staff.

Chairing part of the committee's discussions, Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, stressed the necessity to review all measures in the Jaber, Karama and Al Omari border crossings, as they have become a source of transmitting the Covid-19 to Jordan.

Razzaz instructed the a government field committee formed to check on conditions of the Jaber Border Crossing to discuss designating sites to quarantine its workers.

Moreover, Razzaz directed the concerned ministries to submit a report over the next few days on an integrated action plan to develop the anti-Covid-19 measures which have already begun to be implemented on the ground, especially at the Al-Omari Border Crossing.

Razzaz expressed hope the pandemic and its 2nd wave ravaging many countries around the world and the region will be tackled, calling upon the public to take this issue "very seriously."

Totaling 25 infections, Razzaz said the increase in the number of local Covid-19 cases since Wednesday evening until this morning is a "worrisome development," adding their sources must be verified, as the majority were recorded at the Jaber Border Crossing, and take immediate measures to prevent the virus spread.

The preemptive measures, continued feedback, coordination and teamwork among all concerned bodies in the field and the relevant emergency mechanisms have helped achieve success in the previous stage, according to Razzaz.
