Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Senior public sector officials are not allowed to use their positions to interfere in the forthcoming parliamentary elections, slated for November 10th, or serve any candidate or list, according to a decision by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Sunday.

According to the decision, which was issued upon a request by the Independent Election Commission, all public sector employees are barred from campaigning for any candidate.

Following is the text of the Article 9 of the 2016 Executive Regulations and amendments thereto relating to electoral campaigning, upon which the decision is made:

A. It shall not be permissible for the occupants of senior positions in official and public institutions to interfere or use their positions to serve any candidate or list.
B. It shall not be permissible for government employees, official and public institutions, the Mayor of Amman, members of the Greater Amman Municipality’s council and the municipality's employees, heads of municipal councils, their members and their employees to campaign for any candidate at their workplaces. Also, it shall not be permissible to use any of the means and assets owned by these institutions to campaign for any list or any candidate.
