7 new Covid-19 cases, including one local infection

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Health, Dr. Sa'ad Jaber, announced 7 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the Kingdom, bringing the total caseload since the start of the pandemic to 1231.
Speaking during the press conference held at the Prime Ministry on Wednesday, Jaber said a local case was registered in the Ramtha region, adding the source of the infection was identified.
3 cases involve Jordanian drivers arriving at Al-Omari Border Crossing and 3 infections refer to Jordanians in quarantine at the designated hotels- 2 have arrived from Saudi Arabia and 1 came from Iraq, according to Jaber.
Meanwhile, Jaber said 5 patients have left hospitals over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1177, adding 69 cases are still receiving treatment.
Moreover, the epidemiological investigation teams have administered 5964 Covid-19 tests today, bringing the number of tests conducted since the beginning of the virus outbreak in Jordan to 622620, announced the minister.
In response to a press question on the students' return to schools, Jaber said this issue is linked to the Covid-19 matrix set by the government and according to the epidemiological situation that governs normalcy by the specified date.
Regarding the postponement of reopening airports, Jaber said the decision came after a recommendation from the Epidemiological Committee, as health situation in a number of "green" countries have changed and those nations' inability to administer the PCR test.
With regard to cases of mass poisoning, Jaber said the committee, formed by the Prime Minister, aims to assess the relevant monitoring procedures in place, adding the judicial investigations into those incidents proceed according to the legal rules.
On the main reason behind activating Defense Order 11, he said the decision came because the pandemic has not ended, calling on citizens to adhere to public safety procedures and preventive measures.
