Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Monday said that financial assistance and grants by donors and partners to Jordan are a sign of global trust in the Kingdom and its economy, and called for transparency in the management of foreign aid.
"The support provided to Jordan is continuous and indicates global confidence in the Kingdom," Razzaz said during a meeting at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, referring to a recent $1.75-billion Eurobond issuance, which was oversubscribed six times.
"This week, we are focusing on this confidence in the Jordanian economy, our fiscal standing, our foreign reserves and the ability of the private sector to recover and deal with emergencies," Razzaz told reporters following the meeting with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Wisam Rabadi, and top ministry staff.
He emphasized that the Kingdom stands ready to attract investments and offer products and services at the regional level, adding that the government will in the next few days highlight the investments Jordan managed to lure in amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Rabadi briefed the prime minister on foreign assistance provided to the Kingdom, areas of spending and auditing mechanisms. In this context, the prime minister underscored the importance of pursuing transparency and disclosure, and informing the public on aid the Kingdom receives, whether soft loans or grants, and how and where it is spent.
