Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Six COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Wednesday, bringing the caseload to 987, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

In a briefing at the Prime Ministry, Minister of Health Sa'ad Jaber said that of the six cases, two are of Jordanians who had come from Egypt and Saudi Arabia, countries that have high infection rates, a case of a foreigner working at the Karameh Border Crossing with Iraq in the northern governorate of Mafraq, whose contacts are being traced, and a case of an Arab trucker at the al-Omari Border Crossing with Saudi Arabia. He also said that a case was recorded in Amman and another in Zarqa.

As part of national effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, a lung disease caused by the highly contagious coronavirus, Jaber said that the epidemiological tracing teams conducted more than 9,870 COVID-19 tests across the Kingdom, as tally of tests since the outbreak of the pandemic top 303,500, far exceeding the international standards.

He said the "electronic bracelets" are slated to arrive to the Kingdom tomorrow as 300 of them will be tested for efficiency, pointing out that using technology would help in addressing and minimizing the spread of the disease.

He highlighted that the Ministry is mulling over contracting with the delivery companies to deliver medication to patients to avoid contact and to save time.

Jaber urged those who had received text messages alerting them that they may have been in contact with an infected person to head straightaway to the nearest health center or call the hot line 111.

509 of those who had downloaded the "Aman" app have received messages, 300 of whom contacted health authorities, Jaber said, emphasizing that the application keeps information of its users completely secured.
