Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Health announced 18 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Wednesday, (12 domestic) , and (6 imported), raising the caseload since the start of the epidemic to 863.
The new cases' breakdown is as follows: 11 belong to contacts in the capital, Amman, including 6 children of an infected woman, 5 contacts of an infected doctor, 1 case in Ramtha city (wife of a truck driver), according to the media statement issued the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
In the same context, 5 new infections belong to truck drivers coming across the Omari Border Crossing, 1 Jordanian, and the rest are non-Jordanian nationals, who were dealt with according to the established protocol, and 1 case for a Jordanian coming from Chicago and staying in a quarantine hotel.
Moreover, 6 patients have recovered: 5 at Prince Hamzah Hospital, and 1 at the King Abdullah University Hospital, the statement pointed out.
On the Covid-19 testing campaign, 5422 laboratory tests were carried out, bringing the total conducted since the start of the pandemic to 240,436, added the statement.
On the disease's severity indicators, the Ministry of Health announced today's infections are the first time ever more than ten domestic Covid-19 cases have been recorded since the kingdom reached a "moderate risk" level.
Accordingly, if this case rate, more than 10 infections daily, persists over seven consecutive days, strict measures will be reinstated, as the partial lockdown hours ban will be extended, and the total curfew will be imposed during the weekends, the ministry explained.
