Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - 23 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the country on Monday, bringing the caseload to 831 since the outbreak has started, Minister of Health Sa’sad Jaber told journalists at the Prime Ministry in Amman.

Breaking down the cases, Jaber said that 11 cases are of Jordanians who had come from Pakistan, six truckers at the borders, one of whom is Jordanian, and six contacts of a patient who had tested positive for the virus earlier, in Amman.

On a positive note, Jaber said that 20 patients recovered today and left hospitals and isolation centers, as the tally reached 627, adding that Jordan is considered one of the top rating countries in the world in terms of recoveries.

On the government’s effort to curb the spread of the virus and increase COVID-19 tests, the Minister said that the epidemiological tracing teams conducted today 6,650 tests across the country, "a record high" in the words of Jaber, as the total number of tests reached 228,780 since the outbreak started in the country.

On a question raised by journalists on whether diplomats are put in quarantine, Jaber said that they are treated the same as everyone and are expected to quarantine themselves for 14 days inside their respective embassies as they are kept under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.

Jaber said that no fatalities linked to the disease were registered today, saying that "there is no indication for an increase in the number of deaths due to the imposed quarantine measures, and the Ministry will analyze the data and compare the number of fatalities this year and last year to take necessary measures."

He said that Jordan has been treating COVID-19 patients by prescribing specific vitamins, in addition to using Hydroxychloroquine, adding that no complications have been linked to the medication except for two cases, which prompted us to stop using it on them.
