Jordan welcomes signing of Sudan constitutional declaration

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan on Monday welcomed the constitutional declaration which was signed by Sudan's Transitional Military Council and the opposition coalition.

The document, which was signed on Sunday, paves the way for a transition to civilian rule after the toppling of President Omar al-Bashir in April.

"The accord is a key pillar in the right path to safeguard Sudan's security and stability and meet the aspirations of its brotherly people," Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates official spokesman Sufian Qudah said in a statement.

He underlined that Jordan fully supports the choices of the Sudanese people in all its spectra to fulfill its aspirations for security, stability and prosperity.

The spokesman voiced Jordan's solidarity with Sudan to overcome the current challenges and build a secure democratic future that the "brotherly" people of Sudan look forward to.
