Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Atif Tarawneh stressed that the failure to reach a just, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause is the core of instability in the Middle East.

During a meeting with the Speaker of Iran's Parliament, Ali Larijani, on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being held in Istanbul, Tarawneh stressed that the Palestinian cause remains a major issue for Jordan, which is the key to peace and security in the entire region.

The Speaker explained that Israel's intransigence has been an obstacle to finding a solution to the Palestinian cause and this adds to the tension not only to the Palestinians, but also to the whole Arab and Islamic peoples.

The House Speaker reiterated the Kingdom's firm stance towards various issues and Jordan’s full support for the Palestinians in their aspiration to establish their independent and sovereign state on their national soil, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Tarawneh highlighted the importance of the Hashemite's guardianship of the Muslim and Christian holy places in Jerusalem.

He stressed that Jordan took an early stand against terrorism by declaring war against such notions, irrespective of its source.

Larijani praised the efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II and the role played by the Kingdom to bring about peace and stability in the region.
