Nothing Justifies the Killing of Innocents

[11/29/2011 11:21:57 PM]

AMMONNEWS - It is indeed shocking and dismaying to observe how the Jordanian media singled out the case of the released prisoner Elham Tamimi and introduced her as a returning heroine. One has to remember that Tamimi's deeds, like many others', contributed only in having the world perceive Muslim Arabs as merciless terrorists and in having the security wall erected by the Israeli authorities to deter suicide bombings.

Nothing justifies the killing of innocent civilians whether in Palestine, Israel, Turkey or in Iraq. No monotheistic religion ordained such killings including Islam. Hence, instead of being glorified and introduced as a role model misguiding many towards adopting such appalling deeds, what is required is for Tamimi to be rehabilitated towards repentance, realizing that violence only breeds violence and the need for her to replace violent means with peaceful ones in seeking her national aspirations, especially once returning to Jordan, the country which embraces and advocates just peace as an outcome and as a process.

I think there is no justification for murder, but it is important to keep in mind that the Israeli government is committing massacres on a daily basis, and the suffering of the Palestinian population is increasing, and many individuals who killed Israelis were themselves victims of untold suffering by Israeli actions. The only solution would be an end to Israeli occupation and Palestinian independence.
