Former GID Chief Promoted, Appointed to Senate

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A Royal Decree was issued on Monday promoting former Director of the General Intelligence Department (GID) Mohammed Raqqad to the rank of General and appointing him as member of the Senate.

A Royal Decree was previously issued in 11/2/2009 promoting Raqqad to the rank of Lieutenant General.

Raqqad was appointed head of GID in December 2008, succeeding Mohammed Dahabi, who was referred to retirement after holding the post since December 2005.

King Abdullah on Monday appointed Major General Faisal Al Shobaki to succeed Raqqad as the new head of the General Intelligence Department (GID), one of the country's most influential posts, Ammon News learned.
