Cybercrime Unit urges users to protect WhatsApp accounts

06-01-2026 04:00 PM

Ammon News - The Cybercrime Unit reiterated its warning to citizens and residents about the importance of securing their WhatsApp accounts, stressing the need to take proper precautions to prevent account theft and hacking.

The unit highlighted several key measures to enhance account protection, including activating two-step verification through WhatsApp settings by selecting “Account” and then “Two-step verification.” This feature provides an additional security layer by requiring a PIN when registering the phone number, making it difficult for unauthorized users to access the account.

It also urged users to keep the WhatsApp application up to date to benefit from the latest security updates and technical improvements, to link their accounts to a valid email address, and to avoid responding to or sharing any verification or registration codes received through messages, warning that doing so could compromise account security.
