Ammon News - On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi emphasized the importance of prompt international assistance to aid Lebanon in supporting over 1.2 million displaced individuals who were forced out of their homes by Israel during its recent attacks starting on the 23rd of the previous month.

In a speech at the International Conference in Support of Lebanon and its Sovereignty, Safadi mentioned that Lebanon cannot handle the burden of meeting the needs of the displaced alone and needs immediate international assistance.

Safadi stated during the conference hosted by France, which was also attended by foreign ministers and representatives of 76 countries and international organizations, that those who have been displaced should not have to endure poverty after experiencing the trauma of leaving their homes and lives behind.

Safadi emphasized the importance of humanitarian aid, but stressed the need to address the root causes of the disaster. The violence in Lebanon needs to stop right away. A wrongful, savage attack that has no justifiable explanation.

Safadi stated that it is now the right moment for the global community to recognize the aggressive, discriminatory nature of the Israeli government and to prevent further harm caused by their actions.

Safadi stated that Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon that are unprecedented in decades, and they should not be tolerated.

Safadi also pointed out that the Israeli aggression towards the Palestinians in the West Bank demonstrates that there is no willing peace partner in Israel.

Safadi also stated that "Israel is destroying any opportunity for peace well in advance of October 7. Examine the growth of settlements, seizure of land, infringement on the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem, vilification of Palestinians, provocation against them, and support for settler violence. He stated that this proves the Israeli government is violating the right to peace of all people in the region.

Safadi emphasized that Jordan will persist in its efforts to halt the attacks on Palestine and Lebanon, and to secure a fair and all-encompassing peace for the safety and stability of all.

He stated that security cannot be attained through wars. Justice and peace lead to security. The Palestinian people should be granted their freedom and a state on their land as part of the two-state solution, while also ensuring Lebanon's borders and sovereignty are honored. The occupation by Israel needs to stop. This is the sole method to attain the peace that the region is entitled to.

Safadi stated that Jordan will keep backing Lebanon and its endeavors to halt the aggression against it, and revive its national institutions, beginning with the appointment of a new president. He emphasized that the Kingdom is still offering humanitarian aid to assist Lebanon in meeting the requirements of the displaced individuals, while also backing the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Safadi emphasized the urgency for the global community to act promptly to halt the attacks on Lebanon and enforce Security Council Resolution 1701, highlighting the significance of equipping the Lebanese Armed Forces adequately for their duties.

Safadi emphasized that Israel's immunity granted by the international community has allowed it to break international laws, and the ongoing war crimes and ethnic cleansing in northern Gaza are a shameful act.

Safadi emphasized the importance of combining all efforts to provide assistance to Lebanon, highlighting the significance of the conference in coordinating global support and implementing effective measures to help the country.

He mentioned that the conference should also deliver a strong and firm message that the international community will not tolerate further violence and breaches of international law, and that Israel will be held accountable. If not, Israel will continue to kill and break international laws, leading to a loss of credibility and rendering the concept of "common human values" meaningless.

Safadi expressed gratitude to French President Emmanuel Macron for organizing the conference.
