Ammon News - Mohamed Salah is set to return to Liverpool to meet Arne Slot after a major call was made on his future.
The Egyptian forward is out of contract next summer and has been linked with an exit. Saudi clubs are interested in Salah, with Liverpool having turned down a £150m bid previously.
But this summer represents the Reds’ final chance to earn a big fee for his signature. Mirror Football understands that Liverpool have no intention of cashing in on him this window.
And he may want to discuss that decision with new boss Slot. Salah will return to Merseyside on Monday to begin his pre-season training schedule.
He will be put through his paces by Slot and his performance coach Ruben Peeters after six weeks away on holiday. Salah was granted an extended break after his international commitments with Egypt.
The Pharaohs took on Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau last month in World Cup qualifiers. Egypt Olympic boss Rugero Micali was previously hopeful that the country's star man would play at this summer’s Olympics in Paris but Salah has now turned down a call-up.
Speaking earlier this year, he said: “We have 10 names under consideration and we will choose three players from them. We’re still awaiting the outcome of communication with Salah and his club Liverpool through the Egyptian Football Association.
“We definitely want him with us. I wish Salah could play with us at the Olympics. It’s always good for a player to be involved, but we don’t interfere in players’ clubs about whether or not they’re in the squad.”
Ahead of Salah’s pre-season return, Liverpool have already spoken out on the forward’s future. New sporting director Richard Hughes has called for privacy when it comes to ongoing talks for a new deal but expects Salah to stay committed.
Speaking in his introductory press conference, he said: “Contractual situations, I don't think it would be fair for me to talk about. These are private matters between club and players.
“The only concern I have, that Arne has, about those situations and everyone else in the squad is that there is total commitment from the players to the cause for next season – and we are absolutely convinced that is the case.”
Salah will now be a constant figure as the Reds step up their preparations for the new season. Liverpool kick off their pre-season calendar against Real Betis on July 27.
They then face Premier League rivals Arsenal and Man United before a clash with Sevilla. Slot’s side get their new season underway against newly-promoted Ipswich at Portman Road.
