Ammon News - The UNHCR Representative to Jordan, Dominik Bartsch, warned of the approaching humanitarian crisis for refugees in Jordan, in light of the decline in financial support provided to UN organizations, according to Al-Mamlaka.

During the launch of the "Socio-Economic Survey of Refugees in Camps, Jordan 2024" report, Bartsch said on Sunday that the situation is becoming more dangerous, and we are at risk of sliding back into a humanitarian crisis, and evidence indicates that this crisis is getting closer and closer.

The study showed a 12% decrease in the income of Syrian refugees in local communities during the past two years, while the decrease was greater in the Azraq and Zaatari camps.

66% of Syrian refugee families in local communities reduce the amount of food they eat, while 71% of refugees of other nationalities resort to taking this measure.

Bartsch called on the international community and donors to redouble their efforts to mitigate the impact of the crisis, and said that the Jordanian government's generous stance towards refugees deserves to be recognized again and again.

Jordan hosts 52,470 Iraqi refugees registered with UNHCR, and more than 1.3 million Syrians since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011, including 634,728 Syrian refugees registered with UNHCR.

UNHCR says that 706,100 refugees are registered with it of all nationalities except Palestinian refugees who are affiliated with UNRWA, as of 4 Last May.
