PM lays foundation stone of Zarqa Industrial City project

Ammon News - Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh laid Tuesday the foundation stone for the Zarqa Industrial City project, coinciding with the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Zarqa Governorate on the occasion of the silver jubilee.

The Prime Minister stressed the economic and investment importance of the project as part of the state’s efforts to create the appropriate environment to promote industry and attract investment, stressing the necessity of completing it within the specified dates and communicating with investors for the purposes of marketing it.

Khasawneh listened to a briefing presented by the Industrial Cities Company Board Chairman Loay Sehwail, about the stages of completion of the project, which will take place in three stages, pointing out that the completion rate in the first stage reached approximately 40%.

Sehwail pointed out that the number of job opportunities that the project is expected to provide if its first phase is occupied is approximately 8,500 job opportunities, while by the end of the third and final phase in 2030, it will provide 21,000 jobs.

The Zarqa Industrial City project, which is funded by the Jordanian Industrial Estates Company, is located 30 kilometers east of the city of Zarqa towards Azraq, to the right of the international road (Zarqa - Azraq) and about 15 kilometers from the free zone in Zarqa.

The cost of the first phase of the project is approximately JD21.5 million, and work is expected to be completed in the middle of next year, 2025.
