By end of 2023: Jordan population at 11.552mln

Ammon News - The Kingdom's population by the end of 2023 reached approximately 11.552 million people, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS).

The population of Jordan increased by the end of 2023, by 250,000, compared to the Kingdom’s population recorded at the end of 2022, which amounted to 11.302 million people.

It is noteworthy that a housing and population census will be conducted in 2025, at a cost of JD24 million, through 20,000 researchers.

The Higher Population Council said, in a previous statement, that the population of Jordan, by the end of 2023, reached approximately 11.5 million people (at least a third of whom do not hold Jordanian citizenship), and 6 million of the current population obtained it in the last 19 years.

According to the National Population Strategy for the years (2021-2030), prepared and launched by the Higher Population Council in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the total current migration rate in Jordan reached 4.1 percent annually.

The rate of ongoing life migration in Jordan reached 11%, and the Jordanian International Migration Survey for 2014 showed that 63% of Jordanian migrants migrated for economic reasons, and that 26% of these migrants migrated to search for better job opportunities.
