Ammon News - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that the election of Kamala Harris would benefit democracy during an interview with the French channel "LSI" just four days before the US presidential elections.
In this interview translated into French, Lula stated: "I think democracy is the greatest governmental system that mankind has ever constructed."
He stated that Kamala Harris should be elected as president to strengthen democracy in the United States, without referring to the Republican candidate by name, Donald Trump.
He went on to say: "The assault on the Capitol is still fresh in our memories," highlighting that "hostility is prevalent not only in the US, but also in Europe and Latin America."
The Brazilian leader also stated that "democracy is the most sacred thing." The coming of Kamala Harris into power would be beneficial, just days before a fiercely contested and stressful election in the United States.
When questioned about the Ukraine conflict, Lula reiterated his belief in the possibility of peace and emphasized the importance of dialogue.
"I believe it can be done. He stated that both Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin are unwilling to come together to talk about putting an end to the conflict.
Lula verified that both the Russian president and the Ukrainian counterpart will be absent from the G20 summit set to take place in Brazil in November.
He stated that they were not invited because they do not believe the G20 forum is an appropriate venue for that.
Putin declared in the middle of October that he would skip the G20 summit set for November 18-19 in Brazil to prevent any interference as the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him.
