Comprehensive strike sweeps economic sectors in Jordan (photos)

Ammon News - Most shops in the capital, Amman, and various governorates of the Kingdom were closed on Monday, in compliance with the comprehensive global general strike, in support of the Gaza Strip.

Many schools, commercial and industrial sectors, and others participated in the comprehensive strike, and most restaurants closed their doors, while government institutions and official departments continued to work.

commercial centers and shops placed signs on their doors confirming their commitment to the strike and denouncing the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

The strike aims to put pressure on governments to take a position to stop the war and the killing in Gaza since October 7.

Jordanians interacted on social media announcing their participation in the general strike on Monday, while institutions and shops announced their joining of the strike.

Schools in the private sector also called on parents not to send their children to school on Monday to participate in the comprehensive global strike.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Jordan announced that a general and comprehensive strike will be on Monday.

UNRWA said on Sunday that, based on the decision of the General Conference, it was decided that Monday, December 11, 2023, would be a general and comprehensive strike day.

It indicated that all UNRWA facilities in Jordan, including its affiliated schools, will be closed, stressing that all employees and students must remain at home.
