JSO records 4.7 magnitude earthquake in middle of Red Sea

Ammon News - Ghassan Sweidan, head of the Jordan Seismological Observatory (JSO), said that seismic activity was recorded in the central Red Sea region at dawn on Saturday.
In a statement to Ammon News Agency, Sweidan confirmed that the earthquake hit south of the Jeddah region in Saudi Arabia, specifically 300 km into the Red Sea, with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale.
Sweidan stressed that the earthquake is far away and has no impact on Jordan.
The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) reported on Saturday morning that seismic monitoring stations recorded an earthquake in the middle of the Red Sea, 161 kilometers west of Al-Lith Governorate in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, at exactly 12:09 this morning.
The SGS added on its website that the earthquake measured 4.7 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was at a depth of about 10.4 kilometers.
