Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Monday condemned a repeated incident in which a copy of the Holy Quran was burned in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, calling it "a crude provocation" to the feelings of 2 billion Muslims across the world.

"This is an act of hatred and racism that is meant to incites violence and insult religions, which absolutely cannot be considered a form of freedom of expression," the ministry said in a statement, referring to the incident in which two protesters from an extremist group set fire to a copy of the holy book, the Quran, in front of the Iraqi embassy in Copenhagen.

It was the latest in a string of Quran burnings in Sweden and Denmark that triggered protests across the Muslim world.

The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its rejection and denunciation of "the repeated attack on the Holy Quran", and demanded the cessation and criminilization of such acts, and to help spread the culture of tolerance and acceptance of the others and respect religious symbols, warning of the consequences of such actions that fuel violence and hatred.
