Jordan announces Eid al-Fitr on Friday

Ammon News - The Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdulkarim Khasawneh, announced, Friday April 21 is the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.

"Competent legal and astronomical committees have studied the movements of the moon and investigated its phases accurately, and based on these results, it has been proven to the Council of Fatwa, Research and Islamic Studies that tomorrow is the first day of the month of Shawwal," Khasawneh said during a ceremony held by the Kingdom's Ifta'a Department on Thursday evening to investigate the sighting of crescent of Shawwal.

Khasawneh congratulated His Majesty King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Hashemite family, and the Jordanian people on this occasion.
