Ammon News - The Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with other security agencies, thwarted an infiltration and smuggling attempt from Syrian territory, an official military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army announced on Wednesday.

The army personnel applied the rules of engagement and opened fire at the smugglers, and subsequently arrested one smuggler, while the others escaped, the source said, adding that a search of the area led to the discovery of narcotics, a firearm and ammunition.

The source underlined that the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army will use full force against any threat to the borders and prevent anyone tempted from tampering with Jordanian national security.
