Ammon News - Tafileh governorate, located 183 kilometers southwest of Amman, witnessed an "active" tourism movement during the first quarter of 2023, compared to the same period last year.
Tafileh Tourism Director, Kholoud Jaraba'a, said a total of 41,000 visitors flocked to the governorate's tourist sites during the first quarter of 2023, compared to 20,000 tourists during the same period last year.
In a press statement on Wednesday, she said this rise was due to the tourism sector’s recovery from Covid-19 pandemic repercussions and operation of flights through low-cost airlines from new destinations.
Intensive foreign marketing campaigns by the ministry and Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) contributed to raising visitor number to the governorate's archaeological and tourist sites, including Afra Hot Springs and Dana Biosphere Reserve, she said.
In addition, she noted indicators for the coming months of 2023 are "promising," in light of the ministry's efforts, in partnership with the tourism sector, to overcome obstacles.
Jaraba'a also announced Tafileh Tourism Directorate is planning to launch promotional programs for the city's tourist sites through multiple ministry-implemented programs aimed to attract visitors to its attractions.
She stressed keenness to diversify Tafileh's tourist product by enhancing interest in all tourism components, developing more programs and tracks, and supporting efforts to launch tourism investments in the region.
