PM holds talks with Qatari counterpart in Doha

Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Monday held talks in Doha with Qatar Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani.

The meeting dealt with the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and ways to expand joint cooperation, in addition to regional developments and issues of common concern.

The Qatari Prime Minister and Prime Minister reaffirmed the historical and fraternal relations between Jordan and Qatar, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar.

They underlined joint keenness to increase cooperation in various economic, investment and development fields, according to integrated action plans that reflect positively on the two countries and peoples.

They also underlined commitment of both countries' governments to work and build on the outcomes of the summit meeting that brought together King Abdullah and Sheikh Tamim in Doha, earlier this year.

Khasawneh pointed out to the respect and love that the Jordanian people have for the State of Qatar, as well as the close relationship between King Abdullah and Sheikh Tamim.

Khasawneh lauded the care and attention accorded to Jordanians residing in Qatar.

The Prime Minister commended Qatar's role in the region, serving Arab causes.

Khasawneh highlighted the comprehensive modernization vision that Jordan is implementing under the leadership of His Majesty the King.

"Implementing the objectives of the economic modernization vision requires increasing investments and enabling the private sector, to contribute to promoting economic growth and reducing unemployment," Khasawneh explained.

He underscored to the importance of increasing cooperation and buil;ding networks between the private sectors in the two countries to explore opportunities and areas of cooperation available in the two countries.

Khasawneh referred to the government's measures to organize and enhance the investment environment to become more competitive and attractive to local, Arab and foreign investments, pointing out that Qatari investments are welcome in Jordan and enjoy the support and attention of the government.

Khasawneh congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, on his appointment as Prime Minister last month, wishing him success in serving the State of Qatar and its people, lauding the renaissance that Qatar is witnessing in various fields.

For his part, the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the distinguished and fraternal relations between Qatar and Jordan, pointing to the special status His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, enjoy with the Qatari leadership and people.

He stressed keenness to develop joint cooperation to broader horizons, underlining that the Jordanian-Qatari relations are fraternal relations based on solid foundations.

"Qatari investments in Jordan are important, and we look forward to increasing and expanding them in many fields," the Qatari Prime Minister said.

The Qatari Prime Minister commended the comprehensive modernization vision that Jordan is implementing under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, benefiting Jordanian citizens and development plans.

The ministers from both sides highlighted areas of cooperation in the investment, financial, tourism and energy fields.

The Prime Minister and his Qatari counterpart also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, especially with regard to the situation in Palestine and the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, and they condemned all attacks, violations, unilateral Israeli measures and the continuous attacks on the Palestinian people.

They reaffirmed both countries' condemnation and rejection of the repeated Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people and the Israeli incursions into the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif and the attack on it and worshipers inside.

They urged the international community to act to compel Israel to stop its flagrant violations of international law and to force it to respect the resolutions of international legitimacy.

The two prime ministers reaffirmed the firm position of the two countries regarding the justice of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of its independent state on the pre-June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They called on preserving the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its sanctities, under the Hashemite custodianship that His Majesty King Abdullah II is holding with all honesty, responsibility and competence.

Senior officials from both countries attended the meeting.

The Qatari Prime Minister held an Iftar banquet to honor Prime Minister, Basher Khasawneh and the accompanying delegation.
