Ammon News - The Senate's Jordanian-Egyptian Friendship Committee, headed by Senator Ahmed Tbeishat, discussed Monday with the Egyptian Ambassador Mohammad Samir means of strengthening relations in various fields.
Tbeishat spoke about the depth of the historical relations between the two countries and the distinguished level they have reached in various parliamentary, economic, commercial, tourism, educational, cultural and political fields, stressing the Kingdom's commitment to boosting ties.
He underlined the importance of increasing bilateral agreements, especially in the tourism, technology, infrastructure, logistics, trade exchange and investment areas, in addition to overcoming the obstacles facing the Jordanian and Egyptian communities in both countries, namely in the fields of education and investment.
On the Palestine cause, the senator said that Jordan and Egypt see eye-to-eye on the matter, noting the importance of standing by Jordan and supporting the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, which aims to preserve its Arab identity and sanctity.
In turn, Samir described the Egyptian-Jordanian relations as "fraternal, strong and historical," stressing the importance of increasing cooperation in various fields, especially economic, educational, cultural, health, combating epidemics and upping investments.
He underscored his country's commitment to developing ties to serve the common interests of both countries, pointing to shared positions on terrorism and extremism and standing together on regional issues that threaten peace, security and stability in the region.
The envoy also lauded Jordan's positions under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II on various local, regional and global issues.
