Jordan, UN talk cooperation for youth

Ammon News - Minister of Youth Mohammad Nabulsi and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Jordan Sheri Ritsema-Anderson on Tuesday discussed youth-related cooperation, including enhancing their participation in public life and decision-making.
During the meeting, Nabulsi spoke about Jordan's national youth strategy and the ministry's political and economic empowerment programs, in addition to the Kingdom's promotion of a culture of volunteering by launching the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Service and incentives for volunteers.
He pointed to Jordan's role in heading a committee to prepare an Arab strategy for youth, security, and peace under UN Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS), adopted by UN Security Council in 2015.
The minister praised the partnership with the UN and its agencies, especially the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and its support for implementing programs to enhance youth skills and the development of incubators for innovation and creativity.
For her part, Anderson reiterated the UN's assistance for the ministry to achieve its vision and the active participation of youth in Jordan at various levels.
She commended the ministry's role in backing international efforts toward implementing the Youth, Peace, and Security agenda through a Jordanian national action plan.
