Ammon News - The Secretary-General of the Ministry for Primary Health Care and Epidemiology, Dr. Raed Shboul, confirmed that Jordan did not receive any person from the countries in which the Marburg virus has spread, indicating that there is no direct flight between Jordan and Tanzania or Equatorial Guinea.

Shboul told Amen FM, Sunday, that the level of risk of infection with the Marburg virus locally is low, pointing out that only 17 cases of the virus were recorded in Equatorial Tanzania and no infections at the regional level.

He added that the virus is contagious and transmitted to humans through infected animals such as monkeys and bats, or direct contact with an infected person and contact with his body secretions, and that the incubation period of the disease lasts from two days to three weeks.

He emphasized that the developed Pfizer vaccines will arrive in Jordan to enable those with high risks to receive the vaccine, in addition to children who are 10 years old.
