Ammon News - Secretary-general for Primary Health Care and Epidemiology at the Ministry of Health, Raed Shboul, confirmed that the Ministry of Health is following up on the spread of some cases of Marburg virus disease in the countries of Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania.
The Ministry of Health, within the framework of the national strategy for combating epidemics, is constantly following any developments related to viruses and epidemics in general, in order to deal with them, according to Shboul.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Marburg virus has only been found in two countries. It is one of the earliest zoonotic diseases, and it spreads to people through infected animals like bats and monkeys.
The virus transmitted from human to human through direct and indirect contact.
Shboul noted that the National Committee for Combating Epidemics' upcoming meeting's agenda will include a discussion of this virus.
