Interior Minister meets UN Resident Coordinator in Jordan

Ammon News - Interior Minister Mazen Faraya on Monday met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Jordan, Sheri Ritsema-Anderson, on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two sides in a number of fields.
Faraya and the UN official discussed supporting the Jordanian government's efforts in hosting refugees, and economic and social repercussions that affected the public budget, impacted all aspects of life, and greatly exceeded Jordan's limited capabilities and resources.
Faraya urged the international community to provide sufficient funding to secure the Syrian crisis response plan, in addition to supporting local communities that hosted the refugees in their areas and shared all their resources and health, educational and service capabilities with them by establishing productive projects that alleviate the suffering of their members and enable them to continue their humanitarian role to the fullest.
During the meeting, Faraya highlighted the Jordanian model for dealing with the challenges facing the Kingdom, stressing that the government is working to continue the political, economic and administrative reform tracks.
For her part, Ritsema-Anderson highlighted work plan of the UN organizations in Jordan and their efforts to support the Jordanian government, especially with regard to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and support for Syrian refugees in Jordan.
She expressed appreciation for Jordan's contribution to the peacekeeping forces through the participation of Jordanian officers in a number of missions and locations around the world.
She also commended the role of Jordanian women who also participate in the peacekeeping forces.
