Jordan sees decline in divorce rates by 6.8pct in 2022

Ammon News - Chief Islamic Justice Sheikh Abdul Hafez Rabtah revealed divorce statistics for the year 2022 in Jordan.

The total number of divorce cases (regardless of the year of marriage) registered in Sharia courts in 2022 decreased by 6.8% from 2021, totaling 1952 cases, according to Rabtah.

He continued by stating that there were 28,708 cases divorce cases in 2021, while 26,756 cases were registered in 2022.

The divorce rate from (same-year marriages) for the year 2022 was 5.8%, which is a number that has been relatively stable throughout time.

The divorce rate compared to the population, was 2.4 per thousand people, according to international standard.
