Ammon News - Senate President Faisal Fayez Monday discussed with Egyptian Parliament Speaker Hanafi Jabali Jordanian-Egyptian relations and ways of further cementing cooperation in various fields, as well as the current situation in the region and issues of common interest.
Fayez, who is in Cairo heading a Senate delegation at the invitation of Egyptian Senate Speaker Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek, reaffirmed Jordan's keen interest in forging closer ties with Egypt to serve the two peoples and Arab causes.
The head of the Senate spoke about Jordan's position on various issues, noting that His Majesty King Abdullah always reiterates the need to find a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the two-state solution.
He said the Kingdom rejects any solutions that bypass its national constants or do not fulfill the Palestinian people's aspirations to freedom and to set up an independent state on Palestinian national soil with Jerusalem as its capital.
Fayez also stressed the need to restore security and stability in Syria, Yemen and Libya, adding that Arab unity and integration will enable the Arab people to become an economic and political force and to be able to stop regional conflicts.
For his part, the head of the Egyptian Parliament spoke of the need to enhance relations with Jordan, particularly parliamentary cooperation, affirming his country's support of His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts to achieve peace in the region.
