Ammon News - The Cabinet approved on Sunday the mandating reasons for a draft amending the shelter for victims of human trafficking law for 2023 and submitted it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau for a final appraisal.

The proposed amendments aim to harmonise the law of shelters for victims of human trafficking No 30 of 2012 with the provisions of the Human Trafficking Law No 9 of 2009.

The Cabinet approved the procedures of standardising and merging the oversight authorities at border crossings.

The Jordanian Customs Department would be authorised to exercise the powers of the border control authorities according to the previous council decision and related to the tasks of inspection, detection and sampling.

The concerned oversight authorities were also instructed to standardise the risk classification within two weeks from the issuance of this decision by using the "red lane" for high risk and the mechanism for dealing with it through actual inspection, sampling or laboratory examination.

The "yellow lane" would be used for low risk, and they would need to audit documents and follow it up with a post-audit and market survey. The "green lane" would be used for the "low or no risk" whereby goods would be released and a post-audit and market survey.
