Ammon News - Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel arrested five drug dealers and seized large quantities of narcotic pills in a series of raids across the country, the media spokesman for the Public Security Directorate said.

He reported three cases in Amman in one of which a drug dealer was arrested and 18,000 narcotic pills were seized in a raid of a house east of the capital.

Another two dealers were nabbed and 6,000 pills and other narcotics as well as a firearm in their possession were confiscated. A fourth man was apprehended with 15 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 2,000 narcotic pills seized in a raid, according to the spokesman.

In Aqaba Governorate, AND agents, after gathering information and tracking a dealer who supplied drugs to local sellers, raided his home, arrested him and found 700 grams of cocaine, 10,000 narcotic pills, one kilogram of hashish and a firearm, he said.

Narcotic police also thwarted an attempt in Ramtha district to smuggle to a neighboring country a quantity of drug pills, which was stashed in the body of a vehicle, and a man was arrested and 20,000 narcotic pills were found, said the spokesman.
