Ammon News - The UN Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) recommended that 8 organizations be granted special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of Jordan (ESC), while delaying action on 84 others.

The committee recommended last week that about 200 other organizations be granted consultative status.

The 19-member committee considers applications for consultative status and reclassification applications submitted by non-governmental organizations, and after reviewing and approving the application by the committee, it is recommended to obtain consultative status.

Two organizations from the U.S, one from the UK, and one each from Somalia, Russia, Norway and Canada, were recommended for admission last night, and among the organizations whose acceptance has been postponed are 4 Moroccan organizations and another from Al-Quds University-Palestine.
