Ammon News - Chairman of the Lower House Palestine Committee, MP Fayez Basbous, said its work mechanism stems from His Majesty King Abdullah II's visions in supporting the Palestinian cause and restoring momentum to it.

During the meeting on Sunday, with Undersecretary of Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs (CDA), Abdel Qader Khatib, and his accompanying delegation, Basbous noted the current Israeli government targets Jordan and the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Basbous added that His Majesty King Abdullah II attaches "great" importance to the Palestinian cause in all international, regional and local forums, adding that Israel's current government seeks to erase Palestinian identity by legislating violence in its laws.

For his part, Khatib briefed the committee on the wide attacks on Palestinian prisoners at Israel's prisons.

Israel is trying by various means to attack Palestine's Islamic and Christian sanctities and destabilize the Hashemite custodianship in Jerusalem, Khatib added.

Khatib also denounced Israeli forces' step to block entry of Jordanian ambassador to Tel Aviv, Ghassan Majali, to tour Jerusalem's courtyards, as a flagrant and clear violation of diplomatic and international norms.

Stressing importance of Hashemite custodianship in preserving Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites, he lauded the King's positions in restoring momentum to the Palestinian cause.

Highlighting suffering of Palestinian prisoners and detainees at Israel's prisons,he said occupation forces impose heavy penalties on detained women and children, primarily depriving detainees from visiting and communicating with their families and confining them in solitary cells.
