Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh Tuesday welcomed a visiting delegation of the Business Executives for American National Security Group (BENS).

During the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Public Sector Modernization Nasser Shraideh, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram Qaisi, Minister of Investment Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zina Toukan, the Prime Minister affirmed the deep, strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States and the two countries' keen interest to maintain joint cooperation in all fields.

The premier valued US aid to Jordan, which contributes to the Kingdom's development drive, stressing the importance of the free trade agreement between the two countries that allows access of many Jordanian goods and products into the US market.

Khasawneh briefed the delegation about the comprehensive modernization scheme Jordan is carrying out in its political, economic and administrative dimensions. He also pointed to a host of sectors that began recovery from the Covid-19 repercussions, including tourism, which is achieving remarkable growth, a reactivated medical tourism sector with visitors from many countries, as well as an increase in the volume of national exports in reasonable ratios.

The economic modernization vision, which envisages the creation of one million job opportunities and a growth rate of about 5.5 percent over ten years, depends largely on attracting more Arab and foreign capital and enabling local investments, he said.

Khasawneh said new investment legislation, which enters into force next week, will largely enhance the investment environment as it facilitates the investment journey, provides tax incentives and ensures legislative stability.

He also cited a number of mega ventures Jordan will carry out, including the national water carrier that provides drinking water to citizens, and the Aqaba-Madouneh railway project, which could serve as a regional linkage point, in addition to renewable energy and copper, magnesium, phosphate, hydrogen and green ammonia mining projects.

For their part, the US delegation stressed the distinguished Jordanian-US relations, noting the Kingdom's role as a key player in regional security and stability.
Jordan, they pointed out, is a key partner of the United States, which is one of the strongest supporters of the Kingdom and its development process.
