Ammon News - Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh chaired, at the Prime Minister's House, today, Wednesday, the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the "Hussain bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work".
The Prime Minister stressed that the creation of this award confirms the amount of interest that His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Crown Prince and the government attach to volunteer work, pointing to the interest of His Highness the Crown Prince in framing volunteer work and creating a general environment that expresses appreciation for the creative spirit of Jordanian youth and citizens.
The Prime Minister / Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the award also stressed that this initiative is concerned with reviving enthusiasm and appreciation, and recognizing the thanks to volunteer work, which reflects the Jordanian value system in providing a helping hand and helping and volunteering to serve people and society.
The Prime Minister stressed that the value of the award is more moral than a material award, as it is a profound honor and recognition of the value of this important volunteer work.
Al-Khasawneh said, "This initiative may have come as a direct result of the demand for volunteer work for individuals and institutions during the Corona pandemic that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has experienced, but it certainly indicates values that exist mainly among Jordanians in the demand for volunteer work, individuals and institutions, not only in the context of crises such as Corona pandemic, but rather within the framework of self-initiatives at the level of the governorates and the Kingdom, which may not be known to everyone.”
He stressed that framing and appreciation is essential, and gives incentive and motivation to those who do volunteer work, and opens the way for many individuals and institutions to engage in volunteer work, pointing in particular to voluntary initiatives individually and institutionally to deliver food and medicine to those who need it with the beginnings of the Corona pandemic.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the award's board of trustees consists of personalities who have contributed in voluntary work, communication with local communities and institutions, responding to needs and voluntary public service.
The Minister of Youth/Deputy Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, Muhammad Al-Nabulsi, indicated that the award aims to consolidate and organize the culture of volunteer work in Jordanian society, stimulate every volunteer effort, and spread the spirit of competition between individuals and institutions.
Al-Nabulsi pointed out that the award management committee will hold a meeting next week to choose the award's logo, set a timetable for receiving applications and the areas that the award will cover, as well as select the jury.
It is noteworthy that the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work was established in the Ministry of Youth, according to the system of the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work, which was issued in the Official Gazette during the month of June.
HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, blessed the creation of the award on 5/12/2021 while sponsoring a celebration organized by the Ministry of Youth on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day.
