Jordan, Brazil share political vision of peace, says envoy

Ammon News - Brazilian Ambassador to Amman Ruy Amaral said that his country and Jordan have a fluid political dialogue that allows the two nations to share knowledge and experiences in vital issues of the international scene such as security, fight against transnational crime and counter-terrorism.

The ambassador made his remarks during a ceremony at the Brazilian embassy in Amman Wednesday evening celebrating Brazilian National Day.

"Brazil shares with Jordan a political vision of peace and dialogue and respects the role played by the Kingdom as the custodian of the Cristian and Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem and acknowledges the Kingdom as a key factor to moderate and to stabilize the Middle East, a part of the world to which Brazil is deeply linked," Amaral said.

Speaking about bilateral trade cooperation, he indicated that Brazilian exports to Jordan has record numbers in recent years, and in the first seven months of 2022 it grew again by 59%. Exports from Jordan to Brazil grew in the last 3 years by 1.600% and this year until the end of July, by 165%.

"Our bilateral trade reached almost half a billion dollars in 2021 and around 400 million in the 7 first months of this year," the ambassador added.

He also referred to the important role of the Jordanian-Brazilian Business Association and the tremendous success achieved by the Arab Potash Company in conquering the Brazilian market and the opening of its office in Sao Paulo, indicating that there is a major Jordanian company establishing a branch in the country.

"About 7% of the Brazilian population has Arab origin. I´m talking about 12 million people, " he said, continuing" The Arab influence on Brazil is so strong and so incorporated that one cannot understand the Brazilian culture, the Brazilian identity, without considering the intense presence of Arab elements in our DNA."
