First flight from Czechia lands at King Hussein Airport in Aqaba

Ammon News - King Hussein International Airport in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone received the first regular tourist flight by (Smart Wing) company, carrying 190 tourists, announcing an early start of the winter tourism season towards the Kingdom. As part of the incentives offered by the Jordanian government to the low-cost aviation sector.

Dr. Nidal Al-Majali, the Commissioner for Tourism and Environment at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority announced that with the arrival of the first flight of regular low-cost flights to the air crossing "King Hussein International Airport" , the winter season of tourism has actually begun with remarkable and unprecedented strength towards the city of Aqaba as it witnessed a high pressure in demand that predicts full rates of fullness.

Adding that we depend a lot on the upcoming tourist season, which extends from (October until April next year) to restore the tourism sector to its recovery, which has been exhausted since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic in (March) 2020, especially with the start of the return of tourists on board low-cost flights, and it is expected that The upcoming tourist season is the most popular, especially from European tourists, as their country is witnessing a significant drop in temperatures during that period, and since Aqaba has become one of the safe and preferred tourist destinations at this time of the year.

Dr. Majali stressed the need for all hotel and tourist establishments to adhere to health safety requirements, improve the quality of services provided and achieve the highest level of maintaining food safety and health procedures in those facilities, noting that the relevant agencies in the Aqaba Economic Zone Authority and Aqaba Governorate are supervising the implementation of procedures, to ensure of everyone’s commitment to it, pointing to a comprehensive review of occupational safety and health requirements in hotel establishments, and the necessary legal measures will be taken against the establishment that proves non-compliance, with the need to provide a quality monitor in each hotel establishment.


Dr. Majali pointed out that Aqaba receives tourists from many nationalities and countries such as (Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belarus, France, Greece, Austria, Poland and the United Arab Emirates) through low-cost airlines (EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air) according to contracts with the Tourism Promotion Authority. To operate flights towards Aqaba, with the support of the Special Economic Zone Authority and the Tourism Promotion Authority, with the aim of attracting tourists.

Dr. Majali sent a message to all operators and workers in the tourism sector and citizens of the city of Aqaba, stressing that the development of the tourism sector is a collective and participatory responsibility until it regains its competitiveness again and the importance and vitality of the sector in Development, generation of job opportunities and supplementing the national economy with hard currency, by maximizing the image of Aqaba and providing services to tourists in the best way, in order for the tourist to become an ambassador for Jordan in his country. Sophisticated and attractive, translating the royal directives into reality, as His Majesty put everyone before their responsibilities, individuals and institutions, to advance it.
